Russia’s Defense Ministry says the strike was successful on the front line around the town of Avdiyivka, which was abandoned by Kiev forces last month after months of heavy fighting.

“In the village of Berdychi, scouts detected the movement of vehicles along enemy tracks and, tracking the target, struck, immobilizing the combat vehicle. With the second shot of the FPV drone, the militants destroyed the American tank (…) In addition, our scouts managed to get to the damaged equipment, inspect it and remove all the necessary evidence,” the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported.

The village of Berdychi is located approximately 15 kilometers northwest of Avdiivka.

A video published by the Russian media confirms the second part of the message of the Ministry of Defense in Moscow:

However, a separate video published by TASS shows only the second strike on the Abrams tank by the FPV drone, when the Ukrainian army combat vehicle had already been abandoned.

The Oryx website, which independently monitors casualties for both armed forces fighting in Ukraine, said the Ukrainian military abandoned the Abrams tank after it was damaged, but noted that the strike had taken place earlier in the month.

So far, the Ukrainians have lost 4 Abrams tanks

TASS and other Russian media claim that this is the fourth Abrams tank lost by the Ukrainian military, which Oryx also confirmed.

Two M1A1 Abrams tanks were destroyed, and two more crews were left behind after being damaged.

Last January, US President Joe Biden announced that the US would send 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, and the Washington press at the time noted that he approved the delivery to persuade Germany to unblock the transfer of Leopard 2 tanks to Kiev, as it had insisted. Poland at that time.

But the Abrams tanks did not take part in the offensive on Kyiv last summer, being complex systems that required a longer period of training for the Ukrainian military. The first images of Abrams tanks at the front in Ukraine appeared only on November 26.

According to photos and videos that appeared on social media, the Russians managed to destroy the first Abrams tank last month around February 26.
