
The Russian Security Service (FSB) announced on Thursday the detention in St. Petersburg (northwest) of four militants of a pro-Ukrainian paramilitary group, accused of preparing terrorist attacks in Russia and attempting to poison Russian soldiers, reports AFP. .
“The FSB stopped the illegal activities in St. Petersburg of the underground branch of the Ukrainian paramilitary formation Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), which acted in the interests of the SBU,” the FSB said in a statement. .
The cell included four residents of the former Russian imperial capital, who, according to the FSB, “planned to poison food products intended as humanitarian aid to Russian soldiers in the area of Russian military operations” with highly toxic substances in Ukraine.
All four were detained, according to the press release.
