A Russian Il-76 military plane crashed on Tuesday shortly after takeoff with 15 people on board after an engine fire, Russian state media and Reuters reported.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia reported that the plane crashed in the Ivanovo region around 1:00 p.m. Moscow time, TASS reports.

Russian publications reported that there were no survivors. According to an eyewitness, the IL-76 crashed behind the cemetery in the village of Bogorodskoe, the ground was not damaged, Russian state media also reported.

There were eight crew members and seven passengers on board the IL-76.

Unverified videos on Russian social networks show a plane with a burning engine flying towards the ground. A plume of smoke was shown rising into the sky as a helicopter flew over the area.
