Dmitry Medvedev, the vice president of the Security Council in Moscow, said on Wednesday that Russia would have to wage an “asymmetric” war in the event of a military conflict with NATO and that this would mean “the end of everything,” Lenta reported.

Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel that statements by Western politicians about “inevitable military conflict” with Moscow are “very dangerous” and that Russia “has repeatedly stated that it has no such plans.”

The former president and prime minister of Russia also noted that the leaders of NATO countries, talking about the prospect of war with Russia, are trying to divert the attention of voters from spending several billion dollars on aid to Ukraine.

“After all, huge funds are spent not on solving social problems in these states, but on a war in a country that is dying, foreign to taxpayers, whose population has scattered across Europe and terrorizes local residents,” he said.

Medvedev warned that if a war between Russia and NATO begins, he “will not follow the scenario of a special military operation in Ukraine: it will not be conducted in the trenches with the use of artillery, armored vehicles and drones.”

The Russian official also acknowledged that the military potential of Russia and NATO is “incomparable”, saying that the total military budget of Western countries could reach 1.5 trillion dollars.

Medvedev threatened that Moscow’s response would be asymmetric, with ballistic and cruise missiles armed with “special warheads,” referring to Russia’s world-largest nuclear arsenal.

“This is the Apocalypse itself. The end of everything,” he wrote, using the present tense to emphasize the seriousness of such potential future conflict. The Russian official added that Western leaders should tell their voters “the truth” and explain “what will actually happen” and not “lie about their preparations for war with Russia.”

Dmitry Medvedev has repeatedly threatened that Russia could use its nuclear weapons against the West and neighboring countries after the war in Ukraine, but his new comments came after officials in several European countries warned of the possibility of a military escalation between Moscow and NATO members. .

Poland, Germany, Romania are among the countries that warned about the danger of war with Russia

This Monday, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamys became the latest official in Europe to warn that his country must urgently prepare for the threat of war with Russia.

“I expect any scenario and take the worst seriously. This is the task of the Minister of Defense in the situation in which we find ourselves today,” said Kosiniak-Kamysh.

He stated this in an interview with the Polish publication Super Express after he was asked whether he considered a military defeat of Ukraine by Russia and a subsequent invasion of Poland possible in such a scenario.

Kosiniak-Kamish added that he did not “say these words out of the blue”, but carefully weighed them in advance. He also noted that the ministry he heads has begun to take concrete steps to prepare for the threat he spoke of, including studying gaps in the provision of military equipment to the army.

Kosiniak-Kamish’s comments on Monday came after several senior officials from countries including Britain, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands warned that their countries and the EU should be prepared for conflict with Russia.

General Giorgice Vlad, the chief of defense staff in Bucharest, issued a similar warning last Friday.

However, Prime Minister Marcel Cholaku stated that it is not necessary to prepare for war with Russia and repeatedly assured that such a scenario is unlikely.
