The Italian Ministry of Defense said that Lt. Col. Claudio Castilla died in Italy of natural causes after the Russian Embassy in South Africa published information that Castilla was found dead in Ukraine.

“The Italian Ministry of Defense strongly denies these monstrous lies published by the X account of the Russian Embassy in South Africa and warns hatemongers not to continue spreading this monstrous fake news,” the statement said.

“Is this how the psychological war is going on, renewing the pain of the family of Lt. Col. Claudio Castilla?” – said in the statement of Italy.

Last month, Italy’s cabinet passed a resolution authorizing the supply of military equipment to Kiev until the end of 2024 to support its military efforts against Russian invasion and to protect civilians.
