According to Budanov, North Korea has transferred a “significant amount” of artillery ammunition to Russia.

“This allowed Russia to breathe a little. Without (North Korea’s) help, the situation would have been catastrophic,” Budanov said.

Russia is trying to keep up with the production of weapons and ammunition at a pace that corresponds to their use on the front. As a result, it was forced to turn to countries such as North Korea for military assistance, Kyiv Independent reports.

“It was always considered below their dignity,” Budanov said.

Moscow and Pyongyang have significantly strengthened their military ties since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

This was announced on January 15 by the spokesman of the military intelligence of Ukraine. that Pyongyang supplied Russia with about a million shells, mostly 122-mm and 152-mm artillery shells.

As Kyiv and Washington reported, Russia also used North Korean ballistic missiles against Ukraine for the first time during the strikes on Kharkiv on January 2.

The North Korean state news agency KCNA also reported on January 21 that Vladimir Putin plans to visit North Korea in the near future.
