As a result of the attack on Belgorod, which is located approximately 40 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, 25 people died and more than 100 were injured on December 30. Ukraine did not claim responsibility for the strike, which came a day after Russia carried out a massive air strike on Kiev.
According to Gladkov, residents of Belgorod posted requests for help with moving on social networks.
“I’m seeing more and more appeals on social media where people are saying, ‘We’re scared, help us get to safety.’ Of course we will! We have already resettled several families,” Gladkov said.
