A Reuters correspondent heard the sounds of explosions near the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, after the air force warned of an imminent missile threat from Russia.

The Air Force of Ukraine also announced an airstrike warning over the country due to the threat of missile strikes. Rocket launches were observed in the direction of Khmelnytskyi region, and an explosion was heard there, Ukrainian Pravda reports.

The Air Force also added that missile launches from the Lipetsk region of Russia are possible.

At 2:21 p.m., the Air Force reported that missile launches took place near Starokostyantynov, Khmelnytskyi region. Later, Suslain reported on the explosions that rang out in the Khmelnytskyi region.

The attacks came after Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence in Russia’s offensive against Ukraine on Thursday when he held a marathon press conference that lasted more than four hours, a week after announcing he planned to stay in the Kremlin until at least 2030 year.

The Kremlin leader said that the Russian economy is recovering after being hit hard by Western sanctions.

Putin also claims that Russian troops are strengthening their positions on almost all fronts in Ukraine and there is no need for further mobilization. Asked by a military correspondent about the lack of drones on the battlefield, Putin said that in 2022, Russia has a total of 617,000 soldiers fighting on the front lines of an invading country.
