Russia launched 21 drones and three cruise missiles over Ukraine overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Wednesday, adding that all the drones and two missiles were destroyed before they hit their targets, Reuters reported.

The Iranian-made Shahed drones were heading towards the Khmelnytskyi region (west of the country), and the missiles were heading towards the south of Ukraine, the Air Force reported.

An air base is located in the Khmelnytskyi region in the west of Ukraine.

Although the third missile was not destroyed, it “did not engage” the target, the Air Force said without further details.

Reuters says it was unable to independently verify the information. There is currently no information about possible victims and destruction.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that a frigate of the Black Sea Fleet struck Ukrainian military infrastructure with four cruise missiles, but according to Reuters, it is not yet known when exactly the attack took place.

The Russian Defense Ministry sometimes publishes information late, the agency also notes.

Ukraine’s navy said three Russian cruise missiles were fired from the Kherson region bordering the Black Sea, part of which has been under Russian control since the start of the war launched by Moscow 21 months ago.
