Russia is stockpiling missiles to attack Ukrainian infrastructure in winter, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said on Thursday, AFP reports.

“I think they are collecting (missiles), but they don’t have more missiles than before. Otherwise, they would have already started bombing,” he told a small group of reporters, including from AFP.

Ukraine is facing a new campaign of Russian attacks on its power grid, as happened last winter, when millions of Ukrainians were left without heat and electricity in sub-zero temperatures.

“I think we are better prepared for winter than before,” Zelenskyy said. “But I don’t think Russia will use fewer weapons,” he said. “The winter will be hard.”

“From the point of view of air defense, we are in a better position than last winter,” Zelenskyy said. According to him, the Ukrainian military manages to shoot down “75-80%” of Iranian-made drones, which Russia often uses against its neighbor, especially during night attacks.
