Last month, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov announced that three cargo ships were heading to Ukrainian Black Sea ports to continue exporting food and steel.

The ships Azara, Ying Hao 01 and Eneida were supposed to load 127 thousand tons of agricultural products and iron ore for China, Egypt and Spain.

The MarineTraffic database also revealed that four new bulk carriers have entered Ukrainian waters and are heading to Black Sea ports. The system identified them as Olga, Ida, Forza Doria and New Legacy.

After invading Ukraine last year, Moscow closed the Black Sea ports of one of the world’s biggest grain suppliers, in what Kyiv and its Western backers called an attempt to use global food supplies as blackmail.

Moscow has said the ports could be used to ship weapons.

The ports were reopened in July 2022 under a deal struck by the UN and Turkey that allowed Russia to inspect ships for weapons.

A year later, Moscow reneged on the deal and reimposed the blockade, saying its demands for better conditions for its own food and fertilizer exports had been ignored.
