In an interview given to the American political commentator Tucker Carlson and published on his page on the X platform, formerly Twitter, the head of government from Budapest spoke in favor of an agreement with Russia on a new security architecture “to ensure security, sovereignty of Ukraine, but not joining NATO” .

“We live in a very dangerous time. World War III may be knocking on the door. We have to be very, very careful,” Orbán emphasized.

“If any European country sends troops to the ground, it would mean a direct war between the West and Russia. And we would immediately get into the Third World War. Therefore, now is a very dangerous moment,” he added.

In mid-July, Viktor Orbán warned that Ukraine’s accession to NATO would immediately lead to the start of a third world war, as it would mean that the North Atlantic Alliance was at war with Russia.

“If we did what the Ukrainian president is asking, we would be in the third world war,” Orban said in an interview with Kossuth Radio.

A month ago, Viktor Orban called on Kyiv and Moscow to agree on an end to the war, while repeating the Russian propaganda line that the West is ready to fight Russia “to the last Ukrainian.”

Also last month, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto reiterated that the government in Budapest would continue to block EU funding for the supply of arms to Ukraine until Kyiv removed OTP Bank from its list of organizations that support the Russian war.
