The security forces of Ukraine lose an average of 40 to 45 reconnaissance drones per day, Yuriy Shchygol, head of the State Special Service, reports CNN.
Yuriy Shchygol said on Ukrainian television on Tuesday that among them are “the simplest drones, such as Mavic, Matrice, professional drones of Ukrainian and foreign production.”
“This war has changed the approach to the use of drones,” Szygol said. “They are used for short-range reconnaissance as well as fire control, and attack drones are used to destroy enemy troops and equipment.”
“That’s why we’re doing everything we can to supply as many drones as possible. We buy almost everything on the market,” he said.
“To date, more than 22,000 attack drones have been contracted, and about 15,000 have already been delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he added.
In addition to government procurement, a number of other organizations in Ukraine are raising funds for the purchase of hundreds of drones, many of which are supplied to the military.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that the Ukrainian military industry is doubling the production of drones, missiles, armored vehicles and artillery shells in order to resist the war of resistance against the Russian invasion.
Since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has decided to develop its military industry in order to reduce its dependence on foreign aid in this regard.
Ukrainian-developed aerial and naval drones have demonstrated their effectiveness in recent weeks, reaching Moscow and striking various strategic targets inside Russia, where Kyiv’s Western allies prevent Ukrainian authorities from attacking with Western weapons for fear of provoking an escalation with Moscow.
