In a new video released by the Ukrainian military, it can be seen how the explosion of the combat vehicle sent the tower of the Russian armored vehicle soaring so high into the air that it endangered the surveillance drone that the Ukrainians were using to film the strike.

According to information circulating on social networks, the images were taken during the fighting around the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine. In the impressive footage, Ukrainian operators can be seen at one point (second 00:08) lifting the drone they used to film the strike and which was probably used to coordinate it.

Although it is not entirely clear, judging by the speed of the “projectile” that hit the Russian BMD-4M armored vehicle, it seems that it was disabled by a kamikaze drone.

BMD-4 is one of the most modern that is in service with the Russian army, they entered service with the Moscow troops in 2004. Intended for use by the Airborne Forces of Russia, elite Airborne Forces.

Although the armored BMD-4 was designed for paratroopers, it is also a paratrooper.

The “M” model is an updated version that was first introduced in 2008. The Russian arms industry claimed at the time that it had benefited from several innovations, including increased crew protection thanks to armor made from special alloys.

The Russians say their armor has better protection

Earlier this month, Russian researchers said they had compared Bradley armored vehicles with some of the advanced models of the Russian military and that Moscow’s combat equipment was superior to the American vehicles.

The Steel Research Institute (SRI) in Moscow concluded that the American machine is “significantly weaker” than the most modern version of the armored BMP-3, a machine that entered service with the Soviet armed forces in 1987.

Ruslan Dishekov, the economic director of the institute, told TASS that the new “dynamic protection” system for BMP-3 armored vehicles will be delivered to the troops this year and will protect the combat vehicle, including from guided anti-tank missiles.

The Russian manufacturer Rostec announced in May that BMP-3 vehicles are capable of destroying the American Bradley from a distance of several kilometers with guided missiles.

Russian R&D officials did not provide further details about the “comparison” they conducted between the two combat vehicles, as Moscow’s military has repeatedly claimed to have captured American Bradleys, a claim that has not been confirmed by any independent source.
