A surface-to-air defense system (or air defense system) is the primary weapon of this type for the US and many of its allies, Patriot is an acronym for phased array tracking radar to intercept a target.

The recently announced aid package also includes Bandvagn 206 tracked all-terrain vehicles, ammunition, reconnaissance drones, machine guns and first aid kits.

In April, the first Patriot sent by Germany was delivered to Ukraine, another one was provided by the USA.

A May report said one of the systems delivered to Kyiv was damaged by Russian strikes, striking the capital’s defenses.

According to CSIS, the new battery costs about $1.1 billion — $400 million for the system itself and $690 million for the interceptor missiles.

Germany said on Tuesday it was proposing to extend the deployment of its Patriot anti-missile systems in Poland, possibly until the end of the year, AFP reported.
