
The Ukrainian army has advanced 1.7 kilometers in a counteroffensive in the direction of the city of Melitopol on the southern part of the front, a high-ranking Ukrainian military officer said on Friday, France-Presse and Agerpres inform.
The armed forces of Ukraine “continue to conduct offensive actions” in the direction of Melitopol, an important Ukrainian city under Russian control, and in the past week “tank assault brigades have advanced 1.7 kilometers” in the area, the colonel said at a press conference. Mykola Urshalovich.
The representative of the National Guard of Ukraine, Ursalovych, clarified that in the area of the city of Kherson “the defense forces will continue to put pressure on the enemy” through reconnaissance and combat operations in order to “prepare the area for offensive actions.”
He specified that in the east of Ukraine, “National Guard units are preparing a bridgehead for the expansion of the offensive in the direction of Avdiyivka”, where hostilities have been taking place recently. The Ukrainian-controlled city of Avdiyivka, with a population of about 30,000, is almost adjacent to Donetsk, the Russian-controlled regional capital.
