The deputy head of the local government in charge of military mobilization in Krasnodar, who also commanded a submarine of the Black Sea Fleet, was killed in the southern Russian city, Russian news agency TASS reported on Monday, citing judicial authorities.
According to the quoted sources, Stanislav Rzytskyi (42 years old) was killed by an armed man.
A criminal case has been opened for the murder, adds the Russian News Agency.
TASS writes that the submarine “Krasnodar” (named after the city) of the Russian Navy was commanded by Stanislav Rzhitskyi. However, it is unclear whether he was the current captain of the submarine at the time of his murder, Reuters noted.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the “Krasnodar” is a diesel-electric submarine built for the Black Sea Fleet and designed “to fight against surface ships and submarines, mining and conducting reconnaissance missions.”
