Kyiv wants to join the North Atlantic alliance, but the US warned on Friday that Ukraine “will not join NATO” at the end of the alliance’s summit scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in Vilnius.

The Turkish head of state, who announced the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin “next month”, instead expressed the opinion that Russia and Ukraine “should return to peace talks”.

Erdogan, who spoke together with President Zelensky, also expressed his wish that the agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain, concluded in July 2022 under the auspices of the UN and Turkey, be extended.

“We hope the agreement will be extended,” Erdogan said, while Russia said it saw no reason to extend it beyond its July 17 expiration. (Agerpress)
