Lukashenko: Russian nukes are already in Belarus
Russian nuclear warheads have already been transferred to Belarus, said the country’s ruler, Alexander Lukashenko, on Thursday, July 6, in Minsk, at a meeting with foreign and Belarusian journalists.
“The nuclear weapons deployment sites were completely ready a month ago. Most of them have been moved and are located in Belarus. By the end of the year, for sure, but I think we will completely move the warheads intended for this much earlier, ” he said, adding that the warheads were moved “not on the ground”, but the two countries will control their deployment and deployment together. “We cannot serve the current composition of the Armed Forces alone. Therefore, today we are doing everything together”, he specified.
Lukashenka noted that Belarus is not going to attack Western countries. “Don’t worry about use: we are not going to attack the US, Germany or the UK. We are not going to attack anyone with nuclear weapons,” he said, adding that the weapons were deployed in Belarus for defensive purposes. “Don’t touch us. And forget about nuclear weapons. But if you commit aggression against Belarus, the response will be instantaneous. The objectives have been determined,” warned Lukashenka.
On March 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans to deploy Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus. On June 16, Putin noted that the first Russian nuclear weapons had been delivered to Belarus and that the entire batch would arrive before the end of the year. In addition to the warheads, Moscow handed Minsk the Iskander missile system, which can carry nuclear weapons. Belarusian pilots and missiles were trained in Russia.
