Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday that the military uprising led by Yevgeny Pryozhin was nothing more than a “trouble” and that Russia would emerge stronger from it, TASS reported.
“The West should not worry about Russia’s national interests, because Russia has emerged stronger from all difficult situations,” he said at an online press conference.
“Thank you for taking care of our national interests, but it is not necessary,” he added, answering a question from a Reuters journalist about the events of last Saturday.
“Russia has always emerged stronger from any difficult situation. It will be the same this time,” he repeated.
“In addition, we already feel that this process has begun,” he added, adding that the situation of the Wagner PMC mercenaries can hardly be called more than a “difficult situation.”
Recalling the EU’s new 3.5 billion euro military support for Ukraine, Lavrov said it was an “indirect recognition” that the EU bloc was at war with Russia.
“So thanks for your concern, but we’ll manage,” he concluded.
Sergey Lavrov says that Russia did not commit war crimes in Ukraine
Moving on to another chapter, Lavrov also said on Friday that the West cannot prove his accusations of war crimes against Russia because they are baseless.
“We want everything to be fair, for all discussions to be based on facts, but the facts on the basis of which Russia is being accused have not been presented to us,” he noted.
“If we talk about war crimes and accusations of violations of international humanitarian law, there are very few facts that our Western colleagues can present. We ask them to support their statements with specific information and evidence, but this rarely happens,” he accused.
The head of Russian diplomacy called the conclusions of investigations of Russian war crimes by commissions of various international organizations, including the UN, “subjective” and “full of prejudice.”
“They (investigative commissions) travel, communicate with representatives of the Ukrainian regime, receive certain information from them and, for the most part, prepare their conclusions based on this,” he said.
“They do not interact with those who live on our side of the contact line, just as UN representatives did not come to Donbas for the last eight years, when we were still trying to implement the Minsk agreements,” he continued. accusations
His comments came after a new rocket attack on the city of Kramatorsk on Tuesday, during which more than 10 people were killed and dozens were injured.
