The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Thursday that two generals and up to 50 Ukrainian soldiers were killed as a result of a missile attack on the city of Kramatorsk in the east of Ukraine on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Reuters.

Ukrainian officials said 12 people were killed and 60 injured after a Russian missile hit a crowded restaurant in the city on Tuesday night.

Asked about the attack, the Kremlin said it was aimed only at military targets, not civilians.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that a temporary command post of the Ukrainian army was fired upon in Kramatorsk.

As reported by AFP, the “Ria” pizzeria in Kramatorsk, which was hit by a Russian missile, was visited by journalists and military personnel, and among the victims was a Ukrainian writer and three Colombian figures.

The famous writer Hector Abad, the politician Sergio Jaramillo and the journalist Katalina Gomez, a correspondent in Ukraine for the El Tiempo newspaper, were slightly injured when they ate in a restaurant together with the Ukrainian writer Victoria Amelina.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro said Wednesday that his country would send a note of protest to Russia after three of his compatriots were injured in an attack, The Moscow Times reported.

Petro wrote on Twitter that “Russia attacked three defenseless Colombians. With this, he violated the protocols of war.”

The city of Kramatorsk, which is located about 30 kilometers from the front, has been subjected to several bloody bombings since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
