The head of the Russian paramilitary group “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin “sends greetings to everyone”, reports the press service of his company Concord in an email to CNNreports the American station.
CNN reached out to the company’s press office to ask if it could clarify Prigozhin’s whereabouts and whether he had indeed accepted the terms offered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in the context of the absence of reports since Saturday night.
“All your questions have been sent to Yevhen Viktorovych [Prigojin]. He sends his greetings to everyone and will answer questions when he has the appropriate connection,” was Concord’s reply.
Prigozhin was last seen leaving Rostov-on-Don late Saturday night in a black SUV after the Kremlin said Lukashenko had struck a deal in which Prigozhin agreed to go to Belarus and end his rebellion.
Prigozhin ordered his soldiers to return to base on Saturday, but did not comment on the deal.
Belarus’ official news agency reported on Sunday that Lukashenko spoke again by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday morning.
Belarusian officials told CNN they did not have details on Prigozhin’s status in Belarus, and could not confirm whether Prigozhin had already arrived in the country.
