
There are no survivors of a military helicopter crash off the northern coast of Tunisia, the country’s defense ministry said on Thursday evening.
The helicopter was on a night flight on Wednesday near Bizerte when it crashed into the sea under unclear circumstances, killing four crew members.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense announced the discovery of “two bodies and debris” and that the search for the two missing continues with the involvement of a group of divers.
On the occasion of the accident, Tunisian President Cais Sagent emphasized the need to modernize the armed forces of his country, while expressing condolences to the families of the victims.
In October 2021, three soldiers died when the helicopter they were on crashed during a nighttime exercise in the Gabes region of southern Tunisia.
