
The reconstruction of the Kakhovka Dam may last at least five years and will cost a billion euros, estimated the director of the dam operator company, Ihor Syrota.
“The scale of the disaster is extraordinary,” Sirota emphasized in a statement.
According to some initial estimates, “at least five years and one billion euros are needed to build the new plant,” according to this statement published by the Kyiv Independent, as cited by news.ro.
Ukraine continues to evacuate civilians from flooded areas south of the Kakhovskaya dam, a strategic point in eastern Ukraine.
The two camps blame each other for the destruction of this installation on the night from Monday to Tuesday.
Since Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has accused Russia of mining and blowing up the dam in order to stop the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday condemned the “barbaric act” and attributed it to Kyiv.
