OUR republican former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former ally Donald Trump who has been reduced to one of his fiercest opponents, announced yesterday Tuesday that he is a candidate for the anointing of the party in view of 2024 presidential election.
Christie, 60, officially announced his candidacy yesterday at a rally in New Hampshire after filing the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.
In addition to former President Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSandis and former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence are already Republican candidates.
Christie still has very little intention to vote and has already begun his attacks on Trump, who still appears to be the favorite, calling him self-centered and dishonest.
The former president “always finds someone or something to blame for what goes wrong, but always finds a way to take credit for what goes well,” Christie complained.
Christie: Trump is Putin’s puppet.
In 2016, the former governor of New Jersey again became the Republican nominee.
Trump quickly responded to the attacks, saying that Christie’s speech was “boring” and “hard to watch.” “This is what you can expect from a failed governor,” he added.
The former president also hinted that he might not participate in at least one of the first two debates between Republican candidates.
“If he really cares about the country – and I have serious doubts about this – then he should leave, he should not be afraid,” Christie said on the radio show.
He also criticized the billionaire on a number of other issues, mainly citing numerous legal investigations against him and calling him “a puppet of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin.”
