
OUR China today expressed “deep concern” over the partial collapse of a dam in Ukrainecaused a flood on the Dnieper, which caused fears of a humanitarian catastrophe.
The attack, which Moscow and Kyiv blame each other for, has flooded many communities and forced thousands to flee their homes, causing international outcry.
“We are deeply concerned about the damage to the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a regular press conference.
“We are deeply concerned about the human, economic and environmental impact and call on all parties to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law and do everything possible to protect civilians and civilian objects.”
According to Ukrainian authorities, at least 17,000 people were forced to flee their homes and 24 villages were flooded.
