
One 9 year old girlhis mother and another woman were killed early in the morning in a Russian rocket attack Kyivfor the shelter into which they rushed when the sirens wailed was closed.
Police are investigating a case that has sparked a public outcry Ukraine.
“Three people, including a child, were killed at night near the polyclinic”, in the district Desnyansky Kyiv, said the mayor of the Ukrainian capital Vitaliy Klichko. “Fragments of a projectile fell near the entrance to the clinic four minutes after alarm sirens sounded and residents went to the shelter,” he added.
According to reports, several people tried in vain to enter the shelter, because – for some unknown reason – it was hermetically sealed.
“When the sirens went off, my wife took our daughter and they ran to the shelter,” he said. Yaroslav Ryabchuk to Reuters. “The entrance was closed, and there were 5-10 women with children on the street (…) They tried to enter the shelter, no one opened it for them… They killed my wife,” Ryabchuk said.
OUR 25 year old Alexandra left flowers at the place where two women died and 9 year old girl. She spoke of the horror she experienced with her five-year-old son, who “feared, burst into tears and screamed that we were all going to die.”
At a press conference in Moldova, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky – who had quarreled with Kyiv city officials in the past – warned that those responsible would be severely punished.
“As if the enemies of Russiait looks like we have it inside too,” he said.
While declining to name specific officials, Zelenskiy said the impeachment investigation could prove to be a “knockout” blow, a phrase that may have “photographed” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, a former world boxing champion.
The military command of Kyiv said it shot them down 10 Russian missiles which were launched against the Ukrainian capital, while expressing their grief over the loss of life as a result of falling debris.
