Government USA does not support military attacks on it Russia on its territory, a US State Department spokesman said last Tuesday evening, after a raid by remotely controlled unmanned aerial vehicle yesterday early in the morning in Moscow, attributed to Ukraine From Russia.
“In general, we do not support terrorist attacks inside Russia. We are focused on supplying Ukraine with the equipment and training it needs to reclaim its sovereign territory,” a State Department spokesman told reporters on the sidelines of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s visit to Sweden.
Earlier, a similar statement was made by the press secretary of the American president.
The White House is ‘gathering information’
“We do not support terrorist attacks inside Russia, we have made this very clear. We are focusing on providing Ukraine (…) with the equipment and training it (its armed forces) needed to regain its sovereign territory,” Karine Jean-Pierre said at a briefing for accredited journalists.
According to Russian authorities, several drones were shot down yesterday morning while approaching Moscow: three by electronic interference and five by air defense systems. However, others hit buildings, causing property damage. The Kremlin blamed Kyiv, which officially denied it.
Asked specifically about the attack, Ms. Jean-Pierre said the White House was still “gathering information” about what happened, insisting that the American position had been “clearly” communicated to the Ukrainian authorities, but at the same time at the same time indicating that the attack in Moscow was the same as yesterday Kiev was subjected to the seventeenth air strike by Russian aircraft.
Russian Ambassador’s statement
It is recalled that this was preceded by a statement by Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov, who, according to Russian news agencies, claimed that the US government “encourages” Ukraine by choosing to publicly ignore attacks against Moscow.
“The silence and ignorance of the atrocities (…) shows some leniency” by the US government towards Kyiv, Antonov said, according to the Russian state news agency RIA. But “in fact, this is an encouragement for Ukrainian terrorists,” he stressed.
