Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that Ukraine is trying to intimidate Russians with drone attacks similar to Moscow, and to get a similar response from Russia, TASS reported.

“The Russian Federation strikes the territory of Ukraine, but it does so with the use of long-range, high-precision weapons, especially against objects of military infrastructure, warehouses of ammunition or fuel and lubricants used in hostilities,” the head of the Kremlin said during a visit to the Center of education and culture named after Zolotov in Moscow.

“Thus, two or three days ago, the Armed Forces of Russia launched an attack on the headquarters of the military intelligence of Ukraine. At the same time, the Kyiv regime chose a different path – intimidation of Russian citizens and attacks on residential buildings. This is a clear manifestation of terrorist activity,” he added.

The Russian president also stated that the purpose of the drone attack on Moscow, which, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, was carried out by eight drones, was to “provoke Russia’s response.”

Putin says Moscow’s defenses have worked properly

Vladimir Putin added that Ukrainian citizens, who, according to him, are now “speechless because there is total terrorism against the civilian population in Ukraine” (he did not mean the alleged actions of the government in Kyiv), should know what actions the current terrorist the leadership of the country.

Among them, the Kremlin leader cited alleged attempts by Ukrainian forces to disrupt the operation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and “the use of dirty devices related to the nuclear industry” — a new reference to the fraud deployed by Russia several months ago.

Regarding the drone attack on the Russian capital, Putin said that Moscow’s anti-aircraft defense worked “according to plan, satisfactorily.”

“However, we still have a lot to work on,” he added.

Similar comments were made by the head of the State Duma defense committee, Colonel-General Andriy Kartapolov, who tried to justify why the drones were not intercepted by the capital’s air defense.

Meanwhile, the Russian military made a series of triumphant statements Tuesday afternoon, apparently trying to deflect attention from its failure.
