Ukraine appears to have launched one of its largest drone attacks on Moscow on Tuesday morning, with the Russian Defense Ministry saying all of them were destroyed by air defense and electronic warfare systems, Reuters reported.
The attack came less than four weeks after the Kremlin was hit by a drone, an incident Russia blamed on Ukraine, which it denied was involved.
What is currently known about the drone attack on Moscow:
- Russia’s Defense Ministry has said that Ukraine is behind the wave of unmanned aerial vehicles and claims to have shot them all down. The Ministry of Defense said that eight drones attacked the Russian capital.
- The Telegram channel Baza, which is connected to the special services, wrote that it was about more than 25 drones. The Russian propagandist spread the same figure on the TV channel – 25. The RBC news site, citing a source, reported that “more than ten” drones were shot down by anti-aircraft systems.
- Moscow Mayor Serhiy Sobyanin said that two people sought medical help after the attack. There were no casualties.
- Russia’s Investigative Committee, which investigates major crimes, said several drones crashed into buildings in Moscow, causing minor damage.

- Russian lawmaker Maxim Ivanov said it was the worst attack on Moscow since the Nazi attacks in World War II, and that no citizen could escape what he called a “new reality”: “Or you will defeat the enemy with one fist together with our Motherland, or indelible shame for cowardice, collaborationism and betrayal will consume your family.”
- Attacks by Ukrainian drones on the territory of Russia have increased in recent weeks. The New York Times reported that US intelligence agencies believed Ukraine was behind the drone attack on the Kremlin earlier this month. Ukraine has not publicly acknowledged the attacks on targets in Russia.
Numerous videos published on social networks show drones in the sky of Moscow, smoke from explosions and even the moment of interception of an unmanned aerial vehicle.
