London police announced today, Saturday, that a man arrested after a car crash at the gates of Downing Street, where British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s office and residence is located, has been released pending further investigation.
At the same time, the authorities announced that the man was prosecuted for creating indecent images of children, of course, in a separate case.
The accused is expected to appear in court on Saturday.
A 43-year-old man was taken into custody Thursday on suspicion of criminal mischief and reckless driving following an incident that police say is not being treated as “terrorism-related.”
However, the authorities said that members of the counter-terrorism unit were assisting the investigation.
Police cordoned off the area around Downing Street on Thursday afternoon after a car pulled up to the gate at low speed. The main portal appeared to be intact from the incident.
