New evidence in Nord Stream sabotage investigation leads to Ukraine, German weekly Der Spiegel reports today.
Police investigations are mainly focused on the sailing vessel Andromeda, which may have been used to transport explosives used in a September 2022 sabotage in the Baltic Sea.
According to Der Spiegel, the details of the email sent from the location of the yacht lead to Ukraine.
The magazine also reports that traces of the explosive cyclotetramethylenetetranitramine, which was widely used in both Western and former Eastern Europe, were found on board.
On September 26, 2022, four large gas leaks were discovered in pipelines connecting Russia with Germany and transporting most of Russian gas to Europe as a result of underwater explosions.
Although months have passed since then and despite the fact that investigations are underway in the countries of the region (Germany, Sweden and Denmark), it has not yet been established who is behind the sabotage operation in question.
