Family from Mississippi USA called for accountability for a police officer accused of shooting an 11-year-old boy who called police for domestic violence.

Adrian Marie, who called police at his mother’s urging, was unarmed and following instructions from Indianola cop Greg Capers when he was shot in the chest early Saturday morning, his family lawyer Carlos Moore said.

The boy called the police after a man threatened his mother, Nakala Marie, at 4 a.m., but according to Moore, Capers “escalated the situation.”

Moore asked for footage from Kuipers’ body camera to be made public and objected to the fact that he was being placed on paid leave while the investigation was underway.

“We demand justice”

Yesterday morning, Thursday, a small group of protesters gathered outside the town hall, where the boy’s family met with local authorities.

“We demand justice. An 11-year-old black boy in Indianola almost died,” Moore complained. “He did nothing wrong.”

The 11-year-old boy was taken to the University of Mississippi Hospital, from where he was discharged on Wednesday.

“He is fine, he is blessed. I don’t know how else to describe it, how to describe the fact that he survived, ”his mother said yesterday when asked by journalists about the state of her son’s health.

In an interview with CNN, Nacala Marie said the father of one of her other children arrived at her home at 4 a.m. Saturday “furious”. Fearing for her safety, she asked Adrienne to call the police.

As Marie explained, the policeman who arrived at her house “drawn a gun when he got to the door and asked those who were in the house to get out.” She added that her son was shot when he entered the living room.

“As soon as he turned the corner, he shot at him. I can’t understand why,” he stressed.

She noted that two other children, daughter Marie and a 2-year-old nephew, were at home at the time of the incident.
