Prigogine to Moscow: be serious and declare martial law at the risk of revolution

Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, warned that Russia could face a 1917-style revolution and lose the war in Ukraine if the elite did not take the war seriously.

According to Prigozhin, Ukraine is preparing a counteroffensive aimed at pushing Russian troops back to the border that existed before 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea. According to him, Ukraine will try to surround Bakhmut and attack Crimea.

“Most likely, this scenario will not be good for Russia, so we must prepare for a painful war,” he said in an interview posted on his Telegram channel.

“We are in such a situation that we can lose Russia – this is the main problem … We must declare martial law“.

Prigozhin said his political views are dominated by love for the country and service to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He called the nickname “Putin’s chef” stupid, as he has no culinary skills. “Putin’s butcher” might be a more appropriate nickname..

According to him, the Russian elite protected their children from the war, while the children of ordinary Russians died at the front, which, according to him, could cause unrest in Russia.

If ordinary Russians continue to put their children back in coffins while the children of the elite bask abroad, he says, Russia could face upheavals similar to the 1917 revolutions that led to civil war.
