
Two American bombers were detected as they approached the Russian border over the Baltic Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry reported, citing Sky News.
It said the fighter jet was mobilized to intercept the two bombers and prevent any incursion into the border.
According to Russian officials, the planes were described as “US Air Force strategic bombers” and did not cross the border.
“The crew of the Russian fighter classified the aerial targets as two US Air Force B-1B strategic bombers…” he said.
The US Air Force operates three types of strategic bombers: the massive B-52 Stratofortress, the B-1 Lancer, and the stealthy B-2 Spirit.
