
A Californianfather of two, hit by a car while helping duck family cross the road, Rocklin police said about 25 miles from Sacramento.
Casey Rivara got out of the car and made sure the ducklings made it to the other side of the road before being hit by a passing driver.
“The man allegedly helped the ducklings standing at the crossroads. While there, a teenage driver heading east on Stanford Ranch Boulevard hit a pedestrian on the roadway,” the Rocklin Police Department said in a statement.
As Summer Peterson told local media, her children witnessed the accident.
“They were telling me, ‘Oh look, he’s so cute, he feels good,’ when he was suddenly hit by a car,” she said.
At the scene of the accident, relatives, friends, but also strangers they left flowers and plastic ducks in memory of an unfortunate man.
According to reports, Rivara went to pick up his children from the pool “when he spotted a mother duck with her ducklings trying to cross a busy intersection.”
According to the police, was not detained in the incident who is under investigation.
However, according to the local police chief, a young driver is unlikely to be prosecuted.
