Elections in Turkey: Erdogan closer to re-election

ANCHOR. He is expected to announce today which of the two gladiators, Tayyip Erdogan or he Kemal Kilicdarogluwill support the third President electionsSinan Ogan, who received 5% in the match.

Journalist Fatih Altaili tweeted yesterday saying that in a conversation with Ogan, he received an admission that he has not yet formed a final opinion and that he will announce his verdict today before the decisive second round next Sunday.

The ultra-nationalist candidate won 5.2% of the vote on May 14, and those votes are expected to decide the decisive outcome of the duel between the Turkish president and the leader of the opposition. However, Erdogan’s current leadership is taken for granted, and political scientists are already discounting his May 28 victory.

In an attempt to appeal to conservative nationalist voters, the opposition is trying to shake off accusations that they are friends with Kurds and the pro-Kurdish HDP party.

Imamoglu Tour

During yesterday’s trip, the Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu was bombarded with questions about why the opposition included the HDP in the common front against Erdogan.

The opposition is flirting with the nationalist vote of Ogan’s supporters – the Turks of the diaspora are already going to the elections in the second round.

He was categorical: “You are taught the wrong policy, you come here and do propaganda.” “What can you say to the 7 million HDP voters?” It is recalled that during the election campaign, the ruling party and Erdogan accused the opposition of collaborating with terrorist organizations to get more votes in the elections. They even released a video of the PKK singing the Republican Party’s electoral song, Kilicdaroglu.

Turkish citizens living abroad started voting the day before yesterday in the second round of the presidential elections in Turkey. Abroad, about 3.4 million voters have the right to take part in the second round of voting.

The largest diaspora is in Germany, where about 3 million people with Turkish roots live. Of this group, approximately 1.5 million are eligible to vote in Turkey’s elections.

According to the Turkish Electoral Authority, Turkish voters in Germany have until May 24 to vote in 17 polling stations. In Berlin, according to the Turkish embassy, people can also vote until Wednesday at the Turkish consulate general in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district.

Turks and persons with dual German and Turkish citizenship from Berlin and Brandenburg can vote if they are already registered before the first round of voting. According to the embassy, about 64,000 voters voted in the first round at the Consulate General.

The Turkish Federation of Berlin-Brandenburg (TBB) emphasizes that both factions are mobilizing their supporters in Berlin for the second round of the presidential elections. In the first round of voting, about 65% of voters in Germany voted for Erdogan, meaning the outgoing president fared better in Germany and elsewhere than in Turkey.
