The Joe Biden administration has already sent a message to its European allies that it will not stop them if they want to send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, US media reported.
Many European countries have F-16s, including the Netherlands, which have said they would like to send some of these fighters to Ukraine to bolster Ukraine’s defenses.
However, even if they do not send their fighter jets to the Ukrainian front, the United States will have to approve any missions by other countries, as long as they are American-origin/built aircraft carrying “sensitive” American technology.
The United States has not yet shown readiness to send its F-16s to Kyiv. However, US officials told CNN that the Joe Biden administration is ready to approve sending such fighters to Ukraine if the Europeans decide to take such a step.
“Zelensky is moving towards the G7 summit, and the US is giving the green light to send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine,” the Times of London notes.
