
A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.7 hit the Pacific Ocean southeast of New Caledonia today. tsunami warning.
According to the latest data from the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred at a depth of 37 kilometers at a distance of 333.8 kilometers from the coast of New Caledonia.

The Pacific Tsunami Early Warning Center (PTWC) has issued a seismic sea wave warning that they “probably” reach a radius of up to 1000 kilometers around focus.
“Based on preliminary earthquake parameters, dangerous tsunami waves could hit the coast at a distance of up to 1,000 kilometers from the epicenter,” the PTWC emergency warning bulletin says. He urged residents of endangered areas to be vigilant. He clarified that there is a danger to New Caledonia, the Fiji Islands and Vanuatu.
The Australian weather service has said Lord Howe Island is under threat, in New Zealand authorities have limited themselves to saying they are still assessing the risk.
