The Patriot air defense system provided by the US to Ukraine has been damaged but remains operational, a senior US official said today.
“The Patriot system remains operational,” the official assured AFP, adding that the damage caused is still being assessed.
On Tuesday, the Russian military announced that it had destroyed the Patriot system with a “precision strike” by a hypersonic Kinzhal missile.
Earlier today, Ukraine denied Moscow’s claim, saying the system was “working.”
“Don’t worry, the Patriot is fine,” Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat said.
