US President Joe Biden will return to the White House on Sunday after the G7 summit in Japan to focus on tough talks on the national debt, having decided not to travel to Australia and Papua New Guinea, the White House said on Tuesday.
The US President and the Republican opposition must quickly reach an agreement to eliminate the risk of an unprecedented US default.
The White House also said that President Biden spoke with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to inform him of the postponement of his trip.
Biden aides also spoke to aides to Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape to inform them of the president’s travel delay.
