The fireball is 100 times its size solar system who went down in history as astronomers observed the largest cosmic explosion.
According to a study published in Royal Astronomical Society Monthly Notices.
The cloud fragments would be “absorbed”, sending shockwaves through its remnants, as well as into the large doughnut-shaped dusty formation around the black hole. Such events are very rare and nothing like this has ever been seen before.
Scientists estimate that the explosion, known as AT2021lwx, is the result of a giant cloud of gas that is likely thousands of times larger than our Sun.
Last year, a team led by Dr Philip Wiseman of the University of Southampton analyzed the light from the recorded event, allowing them to estimate its distance at 8 billion light-years. Dr. Wiseman described the moment when the brightness of the phenomenon was calculated. “We thought, ‘Oh my God, this is outrageous!
The burst was first detected in 2020 by the Zwicky Transient Center in California, which is examining the night sky for a sudden increase in brightness that could signal cosmic events such as supernovae or passing asteroids and comets.
