USA: Mother found guilty of killing her children, whom she considered “zombies”

An American woman who believed in the approach of the end of the world was found guilty yesterday Friday of killing two of her children and of complicity in the murder of her husband’s ex-wife. USA.

Lori Vallow and her husband Chad Deibel were charged with murder, conspiracy and fraud.

Among other things, 49-year-old Vallow was accused of killing her 16-year-old daughter and 7-year-old stepson, whom she considered, according to investigators, “zombies”.

Debel wrote several books about the end of the world. The couple, members of an extremist Mormon sect, met while participating in a movement preparing for the end of the world.

An Idaho judge also charged them with fraud for continuing to receive family benefits after the children disappeared.

Vallow, who testified that she believed she would save the world, pleaded not guilty to the charges. She now faces a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

In 2006, Vallow married businessman Charles Vallow and together they raised Tylee, Laurie’s daughter from a previous marriage. In 2014, they adopted JJ, the grandson of Charles’ sister.

In 2017, Lori’s behavior began to change after she began reading Chad Debel’s books, which are heavily based on Mormon beliefs, according to friends and family.

They met in 2018 and started recording a religious podcast. The couple believed that people have either a “light” or “dark” spirit and called those possessed by evil spirits “zombies”. He believed that the only way to save the soul from darkness was to kill him.

In January 2019, Charles Vallow went to the police with a complaint that his wife considers him a god and is preparing for the end of the world, threatening to kill him. In the end, she filed for divorce.

When he visited the house where his ex-wife lived with her brother Alex Cox to pick up their son, Cox shot and killed him. At the time, Brother Vallow said he reacted defensively.

In the fall of 2019, his ex-wife Dabelle died of “natural causes”, as originally stated. However, after an autopsy, it was determined that the cause of death was asphyxiation.

It was during this time that JJ’s grandparents were looking for the children, which prompted the Idaho State Police to launch an investigation when it became known that they had not been seen for several weeks. For a long time, Vallow and Dybel claimed that the children were “safe and happy.” In June 2020, authorities found the remains of children in the backyard of the Debel home in Rexburg, Idaho.
