
Private meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu The President of the Republic of Cyprus was in Jerusalem today, Nikos Christodoulides.
Extended negotiations between the delegations of the two countries followed, during which Mr. Netanyahu, welcoming the Cypriot president, said among other things: that Israel and Cyprus have excellent relations and have formed an alliance in the Eastern Mediterranean together with other countries, noting that the trilateral cooperation developed with the participation of the United States is a very stable, promising alliance.
He added that the parties will continue to build relations in the fields of economy, defense, intelligence and political cooperation in international forums.
He also said that he was looking forward to meeting her. Cyprus on the occasion of the tripartite synod in Nicosia and congratulated Mr. Christodoulidis on his victory in the presidential elections.
For his part, the President of the Republic stated, among other things, that he was in Israel, despite the ongoing terrorist acts, which he absolutely condemns, “thus sending a clear and strong signal about the strategic nature of relations between the two countries.”
He added: “I am here to see how we can strengthen our already excellent bilateral relationship, as well as discuss regional developments and how we can work together, two predictable democracies in the Eastern Mediterranean, in the Middle East, to create a stable future”.
After meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel, the President of the Republic took part in a dinner hosted in his honor by the Speaker of the Parliament (Knesset) Amir Ohana in Jerusalem.
