New Jersey: Skyfall object landed on their…bed

How likely is it that the sky will fall on our heads, as the Gauls feared? And yet, perhaps one meteorite crashed into the family’s bedroommaking a hole in the roof and leaving the tenants away from home stunned by the spectacle they saw afterwards.

According to Hopewell, New Jersey police, a metallic, shiny stone object about 6 inches long pierced the ceiling, hit the wood floor, bounced off, creating a second hole in the ceiling before landing below.

“I touched the object because it looked like a random rock and was hot,” Susie Cope, the owner’s daughter, said, adding that authorities are testing those who came into contact with the possible meteorite.

“Was he afraid that because he fell from the sky, he was radioactive? Did we have leftovers? So, we were examined, and everything turned out, ”she said.

The police contacted several other agencies to determine if it was indeed a meteorite.

In a Facebook post, the city council urged city residents to check their gardens for possible debris.

This stone piece could be a fragment of the Eta Aquarid meteor shower, consisting of fragments of the famous comet Halley, which can be observed from Earth every 75 years.

Approximately 500 meteorites fall to Earth each year, but less than ten meteorites are found by humans, as the vast majority of them end up in oceans or deserts.

Due to the speed at which meteors pass through the Earth’s atmosphere, many of them break up into smaller pieces, making them difficult to detect.
