Head of a private military company Wagner asked him today Russian Minister of Defense to hand Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov’s troops their positions in the Ukrainian town of Bakhmut, which she announced her imminent withdrawal in protest at the lack of ammunition.

“I ask you to give a combat order to transfer the positions of the Wagner company to units of the Akhmat battalion in the city of Bakhmut and its environs by midnight on May 10,” says Yevgeny Prigozhin in a letter circulated by the press service. and addressed to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

Wagner’s chief says he made the request “due to a long-term ammunition shortage,” blaming the Army General Staff for only providing 32% of the ammunition it has requested since last October.

Prigozhin yesterday threatened to withdraw his troops next week from the town of Bakhmut, the epicenter of the fighting in eastern Ukraine, accusing the Russian General Staff of depriving them of ammunition.

Last night, on the Telegram app, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said his fighters were ready to take over Russian positions in the city if the Wagner group withdrew their units.
