The Fuego volcano in Guatemala erupted today.
The volcanic plume reached a height of 6 kilometers from the crater, and ash rained down on seven nearby villages.
So far, the civil protection service has not issued an order to evacuate settlements. The volcano is located 35 kilometers from the capital of the country and is the most active in all of Central America.
The Institute of Volcanology of Guatemala emphasizes that it is closely monitoring the development of activity.
In June 2018, the Fuego volcano eruption killed at least 215 people.
There are two other active volcanoes in Guatemala: Santiagoguito (west) and Pacaya (south).
