The drone was shot down by the Ukrainian military to prevent any incident or accident, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Facebook.

The Bayraktar TB2 UAV lost control during a scheduled flight in the Kyiv region on Thursday evening, around 8:00 p.m. local time, the agency said, citing CNN.

Since the “uncontrolled presence” of UAVs in the sky above the capital “could lead to undesirable consequences, it was decided to use mobile fire brigades” to destroy the UAVs, the report said.

The incident probably occurred due to a technical malfunction, the reasons are being investigated.

“As a result of the impact and the fall of the wreckage of the UAV, there were no deaths or injuries,” the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

The agency expressed regret about the downed UAV, “but this is technology and such cases happen.”
