The Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Mykola Patrushev, issued a misleading warning to the United States, stating in an interview with “Izvestia” that they will be wiped off the face of the Earth if the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts.
“If [Yellowstone] wakes up, then there will be an unprecedented disaster. It is capable of eruptions thousands of times larger than those known to mankind. Observations show that over the years the activity of the volcano has increased, magma from it is approaching the surface at a high speed. The number of earthquakes in the surrounding caldera is also increasing, reaching 2,000 per year,” he said.
Speaking about the consequences of the eruption, he stated that “it is believed that the death of all living things in North America is inevitable.”
“The majority of the planet’s population will be affected by a chain of eruptions of other volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis and acid rain. But this concerns the people of America, not its politicians,” he continued.
Russian official calls for “people’s wisdom”
Patrushev, Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy “superhawk” and the official who some Western analysts see as his obvious successor, suggested that Western countries should worry less about new sanctions against Russia and more about their own security.
“At the same time, in connection with their Yellowstone, I want to wish the American authorities to remember folk wisdom more often. An English proverb says: “People who live in glass houses should not throw stones,” he added.
He continued:
“Washington, which decides the fate of other states and peoples, should remember that the ancient Romans lived well in Pompeii and were not against debauchery. By the way, some in America claim that with a possible eruption, Eastern Europe and Siberia will become the safest places in the world.”
Patrushev urges Westerners to move to Russia
The Russian official also stated that there are many citizens in the United States, as well as in other countries “unfriendly” to Russia, who have a positive attitude towards his country.
“Respectable Americans and Europeans could ignore Washington’s anti-Russian propaganda, come to our country and become citizens of the Russian Federation, obeying Russian laws and respecting our culture,” he urged.
In this sense, Patrushev added that the number of people who want to choose Russia as a place of permanent residence is already growing.
“Most of them are deeply religious Christians, close in spirit to the moral and ethical values that are defended in Russia, but have long been trampled in America,” he continued, adding that over the past year, the number of US citizens who received passports from other countries has increased three times
“The myth of the famous “American dream” has been dispelled. Today, the United States has literally slipped into the Middle Ages,” concluded the Secretary of the Russian Security Council.
