The Ukrainian Parliament (Verkhovna Rada) and Ukraine’s ambassador to the UN on Tuesday welcomed China’s positive vote for the UN resolution mentioning Russian “aggression” against Ukraine, EFE and Agerpres reported.
A representative of the Kyiv parliament, Iryna Konstankevich, said that other countries that are considered friends of Russia, such as Kazakhstan, Armenia, India, and Brazil, also voted for the resolution. Russia’s traditional allies, such as Belarus, North Korea, Nicaragua and Syria, voted against the text.
Russia “failed in its attempt to remove the mention of Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Ukraine’s ambassador to the UN Serhiy Kislitya wrote on Twitter.
The resolution promoted by the Western powers was not focused on the Russian-Ukrainian war, its subject was cooperation between the UN and the Council of Europe.
